06 Oct Fall Fishing Mixed Bag – Stripers and Bluefish
Bring on the Fall fishing! The shorter days and cooler nights have brought the water temps down quite a bit, and the fish are preparing for the fall migration. We are seeing full-on bass blitzes in the bay, as well as schools of huge bluefish thrashing on peanut bunker. Despite a few rain showers, Kim and John hopped on board with Capt Joby for an action packed afternoon of incredible Western Sound fishing. The duo managed to land 7 bass and over a dozen bluefish, all within 10 minutes of the dock! High hook was Kim, with an amazing 12 pound bluefish caught on a live peanut bunker, using a light tackle spinning rod.
There was the option to do deep water fishing using eels or light tackle shallow fishing with artificial lures and peanuts. The sketchy weather made the decision to fish light tackle in the shallows a no-brainer. There are tons of fish around, you just need to decide how you want to catch them!
