How many people can I have in my group?

Our 28ft Triton handles up to 4 people. Our 34ft Regulator can handle up to 6.

Is there a bathroom on the boat?

The 34ft Regulator has a very nice bathroom including a freshwater sink. The 28ft Triton does not have a bathroom.

Are kids allowed?

We specialize in trips for families with kids. We have special equipment that allows them to reel in even the biggest fish. We can customize the start time to best suite your group. We realize it can be hard to get kids up at sunrise or keep them up after dark. We can also shorten the trip (reduced rate) if you feel 5-6 hours is too long.

How rough are the waters?

The western Long Island Sound is sheltered from the wind on three sides. The waters are typically very calm all year and often flat-calm. Only an easterly breeze might make it uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are loads of places to fish even with a strong easterly. If you feel uncomfortable at all, just tell the captain and he will move the boat to a more sheltered location.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes! We are dog-friendly. We assume your dog is also friendly and has been on boats before. They do not count as a passenger. We do not have life preservers for them.

Is a deposit required?

A deposit ranging from $300-$450 (based on the type of trip) is required. It is refundable if the weather does not cooperate.

Are gratuities/tips included?

Gratuities/tips are not included in the price. They are customary, but not required. They can be paid in cash or along with the balance of your trip (just tell us how much). Our crew works really hard (before and during the trip) to ensure your trip is as good as it can be.

My partner and I had an amazing time fishing with Captain Joby! Despite a rainy afternoon, Joby was so gracious and patient with finding the best fishing spots. Before our trip, he prepped a live well filled to the brim with peanut bunker that we used as bait to lure the fish to us. And we were so impressed that he had two types of rods for different ways to catch fish: spinning rods and trolling rods with double lures set up that could potentially catch two fish at a time. SOOO cool!! My partner had never fished before and Joby was a fantastic teacher, guiding us on the proper techniques and sharing his vast breadth of knowledge. We each caught a bunch of fish, a mix of striped bass and bluefish, and it was so fun to be surprised by what we pulled up! Joby is so sweet, kind, and generous and it was wonderful seeing him interacting with other fellow fishermen out on the water. During our trip, we saw a father and young son fishing together and he offered them some of the lures we had been using because he saw them struggling to catch anything. Just a testament to the kind of person he is, and it meant a lot to me because I grew up fishing with my dad as well. It was such a pleasure having Joby as our captain and I highly recommend Long Island Fishing Charters!

My colleague and I took advantage of a day off from work by booking a half-day fishing trip with Captain Joby. It was phenomenal! We started by bottom fishing for fluke (though we also caught a porgy) - Captain Joby showed us the proper technique and used his secret bait combo, and the bites started coming right away. After about an hour, we switched to going after bluefish. We tried three different ways (trolling, diamond jig, and top water), and the big fish seemed to just keep hooking themselves. It was quite the workout to reel them in! Captain Joby was excellent company, helping us with our angling and answering our questions about different types of fish, his business, and the local landmarks. I can't wait to do it again!

Excellent fishing charter. Capt. Jobi gave us great fishing tips and was very knowledgeable. We caught multiple large bluefish and had a great time. We even caught a beautiful sunset. I highly recommend LI Fishing Charters. It was a very rewarding experience.

My friend Nick traveled from Utica NY and I went out on the 34 foot 900 horse power Regulator for a morning fishing trip out of Manhasset Bay Marina in search for Bluefish. Captain Joby showed up with breakfast sandwiches and coffee for both of us and was incredibly knowledgeable of the fish patterns in the bay and prevailed after a slow start to the morning he found the birds which in turn led us directly to the fish! After locating schools of Bluefish chasing bait to the surface he immediately dropped the lures and trolled over the school resulting in 2 fish on every time. Once the fish we're hooked it was game on, fighting and jumping like crazy it was a good fight every time. We each hooked at least 10 fish each throughout the trip and were told that was a slow day so imagine when they are really hitting. The boat exceeded our expectations in every way, it was only two of us and the captain but there is comfortably room for many more anglers on board. State of the art fishing computers, tons of storage, nice well maintained rods and gear rigged up and ready to roll. Boat was fast and agile especially with the precise captaining skills of Joby. These guys are professionals in every definition of the word. Highly recommended if you want to actually catch some big fish! We will be returning next spring for striped Bass! Thank you for the amazing experience!

We were lucky enough to be aboard LI Fishing Charters with Captain Joby last night. It was an amazing experience that we will always remember. We didn’t know what to expect but were beyond grateful that we chose this charter. Captain Joby was incredible and continued to get us into fish, big ones. He had it all set up and the boat was clean and beautiful. He is a dynamic and inspiring man who is truly passionate about what he does. He treated us so well.
