09 Jun Long Island Fishing Charters – Manhattan Cup 2025
The annual Manhattan Cup event was held on Friday, June 6 with a departure point of Liberty Landing, NJ. This is the most prestigious fishing charity event supporting veterans. It is an all-release tournament. Captain Joby has been dialed into the Western Long Island Sound bite and made the call to bring the team back to our home waters. The extra drive time limited them to only 4 hours of fishing, but it was worth the risk as the results were better than expected!
Joanne Session had the largest fish (39.5 inches) in the veteran’s category. Her brother (also a vet) Ziph Hedrington led the team to a win in the Gray’s tagging category with 3 of the 10 fish tagged. The team’s average length in the tagging category was 36.5 inches! Steve Palmo took home the award for the most fish released with 6 of the 19 total fish caught. Tarin LoCascio and Capt Henry Feeney also contributed to the totals.
The bite in our home waters continues to be incredibly good, most fish are over 20lbs and some are over 40lbs. June is usually the hottest month for big striped bass fishing and it looks like this season will be one of the best in years.
