04 Jun Stan, Charlie, and Henry Ramsey – Loads of Keeper Stripers
Though it may have not been the best tide, Capt Joby’s multi-spot plan to target trophy stripers worked to perfection! Stan Ramsey (dad), Charlie and Henry (sons) had over 15 keeper striped bass with no shorts. Many of the fish were well outside of the 35inch slot. The largest was around 35lbs. They also had a bunch of huge bluefish. The bite was so good, they had to resupply on bunker during the trip (and those also ran out). They finished the trip with a 20lb striper and 14lb bluefish double header on the Al Gags super tandem mojo rig.
The big winds yesterday kept everyone off the water, but today was a much better day. The wind from the north made fishing tricky, but the fish were there and wanted to eat! The full moon in June makes for the most difficult morning tide to fish (low at sunrise), but it also brings in waves of big migrating striped bass. We expect this red-hot bite to continue for at least the rest of June.
