What an AMAZING trip! Rob, Sean, Kate and Shawn booked a NYC tour with Capt Joby, and wanted to do a little fishing in the Sound before the tour. The group managed to land four beautiful stripers to 22 pounds in about an hour's time! What followed, was a leisurely ride down the East River to admire NYC from the water. PRO TIP: If the Capt asks you if you'd like to catch a striper and have your picture taken in front of the Statue of Liberty, always say yes....

The early morning bass bite continues to be incredible! Despite the unsettled weather, it seems that as long as you have the best bait and the proper presentation, these fish simply cannot resist putting on a show. Stu, Jeremy and Josh picked an epic morning to join Capt Joby and hone their skills at enticing quality bass, boating 8 over the slot with a few jumbo bluefish mixed in. Again, live bunker was the key! ...

What started off as a quiet and serene morning on the Sound, ended up in COMPLETE FISH CATCHING PANDEMONIUM! Cyrus and his family started off their morning on a glassy boat ride with Capt Joby, and within 10 minutes of live-lining bunker on the first spot started an absolute beatdown on bass to 24 pounds! After boating 8 of our fine striped bass friends (all but one over the slot), the group went on the troll for an incredible treat of monster bluefish, the biggest weighing in at 14 pounds. The fact...

New to fishing, Paul and his family decided to try a late morning angling lesson with Capt Joby aboard the Regulator. Drifting live bunker over some of the local deep water spots, the group managed to hook up with a few bluefish and stripers including one in the new slot (dinner!). While this was their first time out on the local waters, everyone did a great job understanding and implementing the difficult technique of fishing live bait for bass. At one point, four fish were hooked up...

Holiday weekend boat traffic and unsettled weather didn't hold back the fish from giving Noel, Angelo and Forrest an absolute stellar trip! The trio managed to hook up with a handful of bluefish to 10 pounds, as well as 8 quality stripers to 21 pounds. While to bite started off a little slow, Capt Joby knew that at the top of the tide, the bass would come alive on one of his local spots. Again, live bunker were the ticket to entice the often finicky stripers. As the summer continues, it looks...

Once again, the forecast called for more smoke from up north. It didn't take into account that we'd be adding to it with some SMOKING REELS! Friday evening Ron P. and his buddies joined Capt Joby for some live-lining action and were certainly pleased with the outcome of the trip. After battling a dozen monster bluefish to 14 pounds mid-sound, we then concentrated our efforts on some shallower spots for the bass. Again, all the bass were well over the slot, the biggest of 8 a respectable 26 pounds. We...

On their visit from Texas to the Big Apple, Darrin, Kristin, Miranda and Autumn braved the unsettled weather for an evening trip with Capt Joby. In a matter of minutes of the boat anchoring up, Autumn hooked into her first of 5 stripers of the night. For the hours that followed, the group managed a total of 12 bass and an equal number of huge bluefish- all on live bunker. To cap off the night, Darrin put on a textbook performance of how to land a giant- a 48 inch,...

Sometimes you leave the dock and the morning feels "fishy": you just know everything is perfect for an excellent trip. That was Saturday morning, without a doubt. Craig, Lincoln and Alli hopped on board with Capt Joby and proceeded to enjoy an absolutely savage bite of bass mixed with blufish for over 3 hours! While fresh cut bait managed to pull a few fish, live bunker was definitely the key to enticing the often finicky stripers. The trio managed over a dozen bass, all over the slot with the biggest...

We expect the June bite to start slowing down after the moon, but it has actually shifted to an all bait bite and gotten even better. Stan Ramey and his boys had double digit stripers and all but one were well over the slot. There were no shorts. The largest fish was just under 30lbs. They also had loads of giant bluefish. Every bluefish came to the boat with at least two striped bass following it! The stripers have turned their attention to picking up the bluefish scraps. It is...
