Holiday weekend boat traffic and unsettled weather didn't hold back the fish from giving Noel, Angelo and Forrest an absolute stellar trip! The trio managed to hook up with a handful of bluefish to 10 pounds, as well as 8 quality stripers to 21 pounds. Once again, the forecast called for more smoke from up north. It didn't take into account that we'd be adding to it with some SMOKING REELS! Friday evening Ron P. and his buddies joined Capt Joby for some live-lining action and were certainly pleased with the outcome of the trip. After battling a dozen monster bluefish to 14 pounds mid-sound, we then concentrated our efforts on some shallower spots for the bass. On their visit from Texas to the Big Apple, Darrin, Kristin, Miranda and Autumn braved the unsettled weather for an evening trip with Capt Joby. In a matter of minutes of the boat anchoring up, Autumn hooked into her first of 5 stripers of the night. Sometimes you leave the dock and the morning feels "fishy": you just know everything is perfect for an excellent trip. That was Saturday morning, without a doubt. Craig, Lincoln and Alli hopped on board with Capt Joby and proceeded to enjoy an absolutely savage bite of bass mixed with blufish for over 3 hours! We expect the June bite to start slowing down after the moon, but it has actually shifted to an all bait bite and gotten even better. Stan Ramey and his boys had double digit stripers and all but one were well over the slot. There were no shorts. The largest fish was just under 30lbs. They also had loads of giant bluefish. After the past few days of relentless Northeast wind, it felt great to get off of the dock again. Although there was still a residual groundswell in the Sound, conditions were perfect for Tom, Joe, Peter, Matty and James to join Capt Joby for an evening striper trip. Sunday treated everyone to perfect weather for celebrating Father's Day with Long Island Fishing Charters! In the morning, Bridgette D. and her family jumped onboard with Capt Joby for an amazing tour of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan. Sometimes, mother nature dishes out some completely unfavorable conditions. Ed and his crew joined Capt Joby for a morning Striper trip, only to encounter gusty winds and a fair amount of debris in the water from the previous night's storms. However, after implementing an alternate approach, the Capt was able to pinpoint a much better spot.  The crew managed to land over a dozen beautiful slot bass on live bunker! On what may have been the most perfect evening weather-wise, Clifford, Marcie and Cliff witnessed first hand the amazing bass bite we have going on in the Western Sound.
